Semi-truck drivers are important to our society. They drive hours and some times days to deliver medical supplies to hospitals, fuel to service stations, food to grocery stores, and sooooo much more. This is a semi-truck appreciation blog where we remind the regular automobile driver to respect these trucks on the road.
Buffer Zone
It is a major rule of the road to keep a buffer zone around big rig trucks, a quarter-mile on the interstate and one and a half blocks in the city. This gives the truck driver time to correct mistakes and avoid accidents with you or vehicles around the truck on the road. It is very important to never cut off these trucks, especially if there is traffic ahead of you. It takes a little longer for them to stop and you run the risk of getting sandwiched between this truck and oncoming traffic. The buffer zone should be increased in winter conditions or bad weather for this reason as well.

Make sure your lights are on in bad weather so that truck drivers can see your vehicle from their mirrors.
