Halloween Safety

Halloween is a spookiest time of the year. But haunted houses and scary costumes aren't as scary as vandalism, theft, and other risks that we should protect ourselves against. There are more crime-related claims on Halloween than any other day of the year. ðŸ‘»ðŸ’€ðŸš§

Here are a few things you can do to prevent having a claim this Halloween:
Watch out for Trick-Or-Treaters while you're on the road. The sun sets earlier during the fall months and some kids are in masks that don't allow them to see as well in the night. Avoid distractions while you're driving, especially in residential areas.

Remind your children of pedestrian safety precautions. Children get excited to see the fun decorations, collect candy, and stay out after dark with their friends, but should be reminded to always look both ways before crossing the street. If possible arm your kids with reflective clothing or glow in the dark items that they can wear to be more visible while out celebrating.

If you're going out for the night, leave a few lights on to give the impression that someone is home. Let a trusted neighbor know you'll be out and ask if they could keep an eye on your house. Avoid leaving any spare keys hidden outside of your home.

Avoid fires - If your family enjoys the pumpkin carving tradition opt for battery operated candles. When decorating use lights and electrical decorations that are certified from UL, CSA, ETL or another nationally recognized lab for safety. Do not nail/staple through electrical wires.

🎃🎃 Have a fun and safe Halloween!!! ðŸŽƒðŸŽƒ
