Back To School Driving Safety Tips

It's that time again, the kids are gearing up to head back to school. Here are a few tips for parents and young student drivers. There are many distractions in your vehicle and we are encouraging drivers to stay focused on the road.

BUCKLE UP!
This one might be a little obvious, but wearing your seat belt can save your life or prevent an injury during an accident. Always wear your seat belt, whether running quick errands or long road-trips. Always make sure your kids are in proper car-seats or booster seats. Make sure to buckle up or secure your pet as well.

LEAVE WITH TIME TO SPARE

Preparing for traffic on your commute will help you feel less rushed or stressed out when driving to your destination. Heading out to your destination a little earlier can possibly prevent road rage, excessive weaving through lanes (which can cause a collision), and anxiety when on the road if you are on a strict schedule.

FOLLOW SPEED LIMITS
Staying focused while on the road and being aware of the ever-changing traffic patterns is very important. Always stay cautious of school zones and construction work zones.

PUT THE PHONE DOWN
There are many distractions in the car: your radio, passengers, and now the new technologies that are filling up our time. Lead by example, and put your phones away. "Out of sight, out of mind" is our motto when it comes to our cell phones. If you need to respond to a text or answer a vehicle, pull over to do so or have a passenger do it for you. Blue tooth or hands-free settings are also good ideas.

Safe travels back to school everyone! Let's have a productive and successful new school year.

Best,
